Tomb Raider 1996

Tomb Raider 1996 was published by Eidos Interactive and developed by Core Design. It was the first game of the series that was released. It follows an arachaeologist-adventurer called Lara Croft. She is hired by businesswoman Jacqueline Natala to find a hidden artifact called the Scion of Atlantis. Unfortunately, Lara Croft is not the only one on the hunt for this artifact. The goal when playing this game is to navigate through the levels with complex jumps, puzzle solving and to fight off enemies.

TRAINING LEVEL

The Training Level called Lara’s Home is an exclusive level you can pick on the main menu. This involves the player being able to roam around Lara Crofts’ mansion. The main purpose of this level is to get yourself prepared for the full game by learning the basics of the controls and simple jumping and climbing techniques.

PERU LEVELS

Peru is the first place you are sent to by Natla. With the cutscene showing Lara Croft discovering the long lost tomb of the Qualopec in the high up mountains. Here the player will battle through the valleys and caves on the hunt for the first piece of the Scion. In this set of levels, you will come across 4 different enemies that range from bats, wolves, bears and dinosaurs!

Level 2: City of Vilcabamba

Level 3: The Lost Valley

Level 4: Tomb of Qualopec

Greece is the second place you end up. This includes enemies such as lions, rats, alligators and apes. Lara Croft has attempted to try and beat Pierre Dupont to the second piece of the scion after finding out Natla has betrayed Lara and wants her killed after obtaining the Scion of Atlantis.

Level 7: Palace Midas

Level 8: Cistern

Level 9: Tomb of Tihocan

EGYPT LEVELS

After getting the second piece of the scion. Lara ends up in Egypt where she goes to explore the buried pyramids for the final piece of the scion. Lara Croft comes across enemies such as crocodiles, black panthers and mummys.

Level 12: Sanctuary of the Scion

ATLANTIS LEVELS

Finally, after getting all the pieces of the scion. Lara gets caught and loses all her prized possessions. She manages to track down Natla and her crew to a remote island where she is trying to mine and discover the great pyramid. Lara Crofts’s aim is to track down all her items and take down Natla and Natla Technologies.

Lara Croft: The main character of the game is a British archeologist on the hunt to find the hidden artifacts from the hidden tombs.

Jacqueline Natla: A businesswoman, CEO of Natla Technologies. Natla hires Lara Croft to find the Scion of Atlantis. It is revealed later, that she is one of the three ancient rulers.

Larson: Larson is one of many henchmen who works for Natla. He has been hired to kill Lara Croft once Lara has acquired the scion.

Pierre Dupont: Pierre Dupont: Pierre Dupont, another enemy who is a French archeologist hired by Natla to recover the second piece of the Scion.

Cowboy: Cowboy Guy is the first henchman that you will fight in Natlas Mines level, which has been sent to kill you. Once he dies, you can obtain the Magnums.

Skater Boy: Skater boy is the second henchman you will fight in Natlas Mines level, which has been sent to kill you. Once he dies, you can obtain the Uzis.

Big Bald Guy: Big Bald Guy is the final henchman you will fight in Natlas Mines level, which has been sent to kill you. Once he dies, you can obtain a shotgun.

Carlos: A Peruvian guide who helps Lara in the mountains at the very start of the game cinematic, but sadly gets eaten once they reach the tomb..

Qualopec: Qualopec is one of the three ancient rulers of the lost continent of Atlantis.

Tihocan: Tihocan is one of the three ancient rulers of the lost continent of Atlantis.

Tomb Raider Expansions/DLC

Tomb Raider “Unfinished Business” and “Shadow of the Cat” are DLCS that was also named Tomb Raider Gold, which can still be played today on the Steam and GOG version. Thanks to the “Automated Fix – Improved Graphics, Resolution, Music + Expansion Pack” Download.

The DLC gives you 4 additional bonus levels, which involve more puzzles, platform jumping and enemies.
