Complete Guide to the Brewing Barrel in Once Human
You may have seen players having a Brewing Barrel in their home, and you may be wondering what does it do and how do you get one? Well, we have made a complete guide on how to get and use the Brewing Barrel in Once Human.
Obtaining the Brewing Barrel
In order to obtain the Brewing barrel, head to the Memetics screen, click the Logistics tab and scroll down to Stage 4. This is where you will see the memetic “Brewing Barrels”. Which costs a total of 7 meme points and a total of 2000 energy links.
Purchasing this will also unlock four recipes that it shows, but there are also a few hidden ones that it does not show. For example, it does not show you how to create acid! Which is super helpful later on.
Recipes for the Brewing Barrel
Once you have purchased the Brewing Barrel, here are all the recipes, including the hidden ones that you can craft from it. Some of these recipes will allow you to legendary cooking recipes, that require cheese or pickles. But you can also craft Acid, which will help you to create ammo and other things.
- Acid: Impure Acid + Purified Water
- Cheese: Milk + Purified Water
- Corn Ale: Corn + Purified Water
- Stardust Corn Ale: Deviated Corn + Purified Water
- Malt Ale: Wheat + Purified Water
- Stardust Malt Ale: Deviated Wheat + Purified Water
- Pickle: Cucumber + Purified Water
Now that we know the recipes and have got the Brewing Barrel, it’s time to place it down and get it working.
Using the Brewing Barrel
To get the brewing barrel up and running, you will first need to open the build menu and select, Facilities / Production Processing tab, then place the brewing barrel down where you wish.
Managing that, its time to attach it to power. This uses a total of 10 watts of power, so make sure you have enough for this.
After it is all connected, you can interact with it and see that you can add purified water at the top and the raw material that you wish to use in the bottom row.
If you are wondering where to get purified water, you will need to first get dirty water from using a water pump, then use the water filter. This will filter the dirty water into purified water.
One of the most asked questions is, where do you find Impure Acid? Impure Acid can be found by placing a water pump in a polluted area, which will give you the chance to pump polluted water from the ground, then using the filtration system to turn it into Impure Acid.
Below is an image of two excellent areas to put your base in the Blackfell area. These areas are usually highly contested by other players, so make sure you get there before others and put your base there. Remember you can go to any teleportation tower and change worlds, which will help when looking for a base location.
Automating the Brewing Barrel
Now that you have got the Brewing Barrel working, it’s time to make it automated, because no one wants to stand there and add all the ingredients manually when there is more other fun things to do.
Firstly, head to the Memetic menu and unlock the Water Filter and Water Pump from the logistics screen.
Once they have both been unlocked, go ahead and place a water pump in the ground and connect it to power. You will now notice it starts to extract the resource every 5 minutes (Depending on where you place this, it will depend on what gets pumped out of the ground).
- Polluted Zone will give you Polluted Water, which filters into Impure Acid.
- Normal Areas will give you Dirty Water.
- Oil Marked Areas will give you Barreled Crude Oil.
Some locations are golden spots in our eyes because you can extract two different resources in one go. As seen below, I can extract dirty and Barreled Crude Oil at the same time.
Now it is time to filter the dirty water into purified water. In order to do this, you will need to place a small blue water pump above the main water pump. Connect this to the power, and then you can connect the water pipe to it.
To know this has been done correctly. You will notice the direction of the pump feeding into the little blue pump. If it does not look like the image below, then you have either not connected power to the little blue pump or you have not placed it high enough.
The next part is to connect the little blue pump to the water filter. Which means you will need to place the water filter above the blue pump. Then connect power to it. You will notice the water pushing upwards into the filter.
If done correctly, you will notice dirty water is automatically purifying. Which is amazing!
Now you can just go ahead and connect it to the barrel and be done. But we strongly advise adding a tank below it. This will store any excess water in the tank, which can help you out if you need some for cooking or perhaps just to take some on your journey in the world.
Go ahead and place it below the filtration system and add the water pipe to it. If you have done this correctly, you will see the blue water pipe going downwards to the tank, and you can check the tank’s inventory and will see the purified water in there.
Now for the final part of the setup, simply put your brewing barrel where you wish, as seen in the photos below, and connect the water tank to the barrel. The water flow must go from the water tank to the brewing barrel.
To check this is correct, interact with the brewing barrel, and you will see the purifying water automatically going into it.
Perfect, now all you need to do is add the raw materials that you wish, and let it brew!
Understanding an Automatic Acid Farm
If you wish to do an automatic Acid set up, you will need to-go a little more complicated. It will require you to have the same set-up again, but it will be extracting polluted water not dirty water from a polluted zone. Then you will filter the polluted water into the Impure Acid, then connect the filter to the brewing barrel for automation on the Impure Acid.
This means you will have 2 water pipes coming into the brewing barrel. 1 that adds purified water, then 1 that adds impure acid. This will then create Acid automatically.
