Unless you’ve spent the last few days living under a rock you would have heard or even played a new and upcoming title by the name of BattleBit Remastered, A 254 player FPS heavily inspired by titles like Battlefield bad company, Battlefield 4 and Squad. Today we bring you an interview with their Artist and Head of Moderation/Management also known to their community as TheLiquidHorse.

What were the main challenges you faced when creating BattleBit?

Financing, and being taken seriously in the gaming space. Getting adequate server space for the thousands of players flooding the gates of the BattleBit Remastered servers was the hardest part, There was simply no precedent for a game on this scale from a team our size.

How did finally launching the game feel for the team.

Stressful, We used the playtests to prepare as well as we possibly could but it was still our very first release. Nobody on the team had ever released a project like this before. We spent the day monitoring everything as closely as possible to make sure we didn’t miss anything. We had no idea the type of success we should expect, launch day beat our wildest expectations by miles.

Can you share some insights into the decision-making process behind BattleBit Remastered?

Most of our decision making comes from these 3AM stories, its just random ideas between us. For every feature we intend to implement we openly discuss them first with our players on Discord. Its always a back and forth until we can reach a middle ground and a new feature is born. Even things like weapons, we live stream their creation so the community can see how we build the game and can contribute to its creation directly. For us transparency is key.

Were there any unused or scrapped ideas that never made it into BattleBit Remasterd?

Many, We made a game mode inspired by the original Ace Of Spades allowing players to build and destroy blocks in a fully voxel based environment. It took us 3 days to implement the game mode and its still in the game files to this day. Sadly it didn’t fit the identity of BattleBit Remastered at all so we scrapped it. We intend to bring it back for community servers, allowing players to host their own servers with this game mode.

Can you highlight any new features or content that BattleBit players can look forward to in the months to come?

High on this list is Community Servers. We wanted this in for launch but simply could not get it done to a degree we where satisfied with. We also intend to bring the FaceIT anti cheat into BattleBit in the coming months. In the coming weeks players can look forward to a batch of new weapons and maybe even a new environment. On Thursday June 22nd at 14:00 GMT BattleBit Remastered will have its first post launch DEV stream, talking about Battlebit’s Future.

does BattleBit Remastered intend to push the player limit any further?

No, Its simply not feasible for BattleBit Remastered. The networking is based on this cap. Expanding is currently not an option.

What games did the team draw their inspiration from

Obviously as the elephant in the room: The Battlefield titles like Battlefield 4 and Battlefield bad company 2. And titles like Squad and Insurgency.

how does the Battlebit Remastered team intend to move forward with its game, what is the ultimate end goal for Battlebit Remastered?

We have no end goal for BattleBit Remastered, its a passion project and our baby. We have no real time scale for it, we intend to keep developing BattleBit Remastered until it dies. We will keep making content until players tell us there is enough of it in game until then we just keep going.

Early Access

BattleBit Remastered is now out in Early Access on steam for a base price of $14.99, featuring localized pricing allowing everybody across the world to fight the good fight together. BattleBit Remastered provides servers in all major regions.

Why Early Access?

“Early access is a crucial step for us as it provides an opportunity to fine-tune our product based on real-world feedback. It helps us mitigate potential risks, foster a community of early adopters, and secure an additional revenue stream for sustainable development. All in all, it’s a user-centric approach that ensures we create a more successful and robust product.”

How long will this game be in early access?

“Our plan is to remain in early access likely for two years, giving us sufficient time to refine our product based on user feedback. This duration isn’t fixed but is a projection of the time we believe will allow us to deliver a high-quality, user-centric product.”

How will the full version differ from the early access version?

“The full version of our product will be a polished and enhanced version of the early access offering. It will include usability improvements, bug fixes, and potentially new features, all based on user feedback gathered during the early access phase. Essentially, the full version represents our commitment to a complete, stable, and satisfying user experience.”

What is the current state of the early access version?

“Our early access version, even though it’s not the final product, is already in a highly advanced state. After seven years of development and five major revisions, it’s a very polished and sophisticated product. We’ve worked meticulously to ensure that the core features function seamlessly and provide a rich user experience. It’s worth noting that while this version is already well-developed, we view early access as a valuable opportunity to further refine and perfect it based on user feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after early access?

“As of now, our plan is to keep the price of the game consistent during and after the early access phase. However, this could potentially change depending on a variety of factors such as added features, development costs, and user feedback. But rest assured, any decision regarding pricing changes will be carefully considered and communicated transparently to our users.”

How do you plan to involve the community in the development process?

“We are deeply committed to involving our community in the development process. Our Discord server is the main hub for this interaction. By joining, you can share feedback, report bugs, and engage with fellow players. Your insights will directly influence our game’s evolution, making this a truly collaborative journey.”
