Season 1: Season of the Malignant
Starting date
According to Diablo 4 Season 1 info, Season of the Malignant is said to begin July 20, 2023. To experience Season 1 and its many treasures, players would first have to finish the Campaigns to get access to the Seasonal rewards and activities.
Theme
Season 1 follows the theme of corruption that laid waste throughout the world of Sanctuary after the event of the Campaign players would have to get through to get on the same page as the event itself.
Plot
Sanctuary is struck by darkness and demons. With the help of the players, Corman, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, sets off on a journey of cleansing to find and put an end to the plague of madness and dark.
New Mechanics
Players will of course encounter new monsters and enemies alike spawning all over Sanctuary as well as Elite Champions having the chance to spawn as a corrupted Malignant version of themselves for players to battle.
Once killed, Malignant beings drop a corrupted monstrous heart. Then, players can start a ritual to bring the monster Malignant back to life as well as spawn other monsters around it. After spawning through the ritual, the Malignant monster will have heightened abilities as well as increased damage. The monsters around the Malignant will also be empowered.
After defeating the respawned empowered Malignant, players may keep what’s called a “Caged Heart” which is an item that players can put into their jewelry sockets where items such as rings or amulets are put.
Caged Heart
A caged Heart has power similar to that of a Legendary item for players to farm and harvest. The power level of a Caged Heart is typically leveled or if not more powerful than Legendary Items found in Diablo.
What’re its uses?
Caged Hearts will allow the players to create new and stronger builds within the game.
There will be 32 Malignant Hearts in total and each heart has a unique set of abilities to give to players as well as a color each associated with it. In Diablo, there is a total of 3 potential colors to get familiar with. One of 3 Colors will randomly be given to the Malignant Heart once put in the jewelry socket. This is one of the important Diablo 4 season 1 info you need to know.
For example, if players were to have a red socket, they would have to put a red heart into the socket to gain access to it. This goes the same for other socket and heart colors.
However, while there are specific colors to match with socket colors, there is one type of heart that can be put into ANY socket and any color. A color Agnostic Heart. The devs suggested that players have a max of TWO Color Agnostic Hearts.
When players fight and gain the hearts of Higher world Tiers, they have the chance of dropping better types of Hearts. Aside from this, players can also use existing hearts for other materials such as breaking them down to get crafting materials.
Malignant Hunting
On Diablo 4’s Season 1 info on updates, players can find Champions that spawn as Malignant versions of themselves but it’s more on a chance system. If players would like to constantly hunt these beings for the Hearts, however, they can find and travel to locations called “Malignant Tunnels“.
There, players can find way more Malignant monsters spawning than normal places in Sanctuary but at the end of the location, they can also find what’s called a “Malignant Mass“. From the mass, players can seek a heart they may be looking to farm or use.
After breaking hearts that players don’t use anymore into crafting materials, players can create an item called an “Invoker” to interact with the Malignant mass. From there, players are allowed to select the specific color of heart they are looking to obtain.
New Boss
From this event comes a new boss for players to grind and work to defeat! Diablo 4 Season 1 info featuring, Varshan the Consumed.
Varshan the Consumed is one of the various things part of the Season of the Malignant. Once players finish the campaign, they’ll only have a limited time to face the infamous Varshan the Consumed before it disappears.
Season Mechanic
Of course, all of the new bosses, the caged hearts, and the malignant hearts are only going to be available for players who play the Season but for players who don’t get the chance to play the Season, new items, uniques, and aspects will be available for the taking!
While the new season starts July 20th of 2023, the patch goes live July 18th for players to immediately use and experience. Stick around on Diablo 4 Season 1 info to find out more!
Season Preparation

Aside from testing, players are also recommended to start farming for useful and potential build items to go with the new unique and aspect items such as the Caged Heart and more.
Season Journey
Incorporated in Diablo 4’s Season 1 info within the Season Journey, players have 7 chapters to progress through as they play the game and each objective. Once completed, players can obtain item rewards as well as aspects that they won’t normally get from the Codex of Power. With this, the patch’s new items and aspects can be obtained through the Season Journey.
Season Journey is completely free access for all players and aside from many rewards and drops to receive upon completing a chapter, players can receive what’s called “Favors“. Favors help players progress through the season’s Battle Pass which is also free for everyone to enjoy and grind through.
Of course, with every battle pass in a game, players have the option to pay for the Premium option for the pass which includes a lot of cosmetics. However, even on the free tiers, players can obtain assorted cosmetics to equip.
There is a total of 27 free tiers and with those tiers, players can get “Smoldering Ashes” which can be used for Seasonal Blessings. Seasonal Blessings or Season Blessings give player characters several advantages ranging from Health buffs to Gold earned in vendor sales and many more.

New Player Class and Release Date
Now, the news everyone has been waiting for! Diablo 4 Season 1 info’s main attraction. The First new class added to Diablo in 10 years is the brand-new Blood Knight!
Here is all you need to know about Diablo’s terrifyingly cool new addition to its already existing 6 player classes, The Blood Knight!
“Humanity is right to fear the darkness…I am a Blood Knight…and the darkness fears me.”
How does the Blood Knight fit in the lore of Diablo Immortal?
What is a Blood Knight and are there differences between them and the Vampires who they share lore with closely?
Blood Knights and Vampires have little differences in terms of lore in the world of Diablo but both have two very distinct stories as themselves. For example, how one turns into a Blood Knight and a vampire is completely different. Vampires can “turn” someone into lesser vampiric beings with a bite while Blood Knights are turned through a ritual sort of procedure to halt the curse of Thralls within their beings which stops aging, changes their appearance to have cold snow-white skin, and black veins by their eyes, and blood red pupils.
Blood Knights and Vampires also have drastically different natures. While Vampires are violent and horrific in nature of their thirst for blood as well as to multiply in numbers while the Blood Knight is feared by the darkness of which Vampires lurk and feed.
Sort of a hunter-and-prey situation. A Blood Knight, deep inside its soul, lies an evil waiting to commit all kinds of violence, and to silence that call of blood and wreckage, Blood Knights would need a ritual as well as to hold their ticket close to avoid their transformation.
As seen in the trailer for the new class, Blood Knights keep a small keepsake or trinket item to pray with during their ritual to keep their hidden monsters at bay. With this, Blood Knights can unleash their chained powers when needed as well as keep their humanity or what’s left of it intact.
Keeping the darkness away as long as they live and breathe and prevent the demon inside them from crawling out of their souls but at the same time, they can temporarily unleash the abomination and effectively use their powers and abilities to get rid of evil before locking them back and away.
Now, Let’s talk about everything to know about the new Blood Knight class.
Gameplay
With our complete report on Diablo 4 Season 1 info, let’s not forget the fun part of the new Class.
Since Blood Knight is essentially a hybrid of good and evil, it is also a hybrid of two types of classes. Short and Long Ranged classes or Ranged and Melee classes. What does this mean? This means that the Blood Knight won’t just fight face to face or from afar, but it can do both in the middle of a battle using their weapons and then using the evil within them to summon the abomination forward for utter destruction.
Like other classes, Diablo’s Blood Knight has its fair share of setbacks. One of which would be how players would notice that this class has very limited mobility but at the same time, players can life steal to replenish their health as well as use their tons of Legendary Essences to increase their ability to close the gap between them and their enemy no matter who or what it may be. Even if they may be a bit slow on the battlefield, they are still a force to recognize.
Aside from this, Blood Knights are more on close combat battles so most of the time, players would notice the incredible amount of damage taken as well as the amount of damage dealt and health regenerated through the life-stealing abilities.
Skills
Diablo 4 Season 1 info brings you, The Blood Knight. This new addition to the nostalgic player class has its own set of unique skills special to the classes as detailed by the developer’s live stream and other sources.
- Abomination – Transforms players into highly violent and damaging demon-like creatures with long-ranged abilities.
- Siphon Blood – Players can float over their enemies to siphon their blood and in turn heal themselves.
- Swarm of Bats – with this ability, players can summon a large number of bats to attack enemies and aid them in battle.
- Skewer – Players can pin their enemies in stun after impaling them with a spear.
- Whirling Strike – gives players the ability to spin their spear around and cause further damage to surrounding enemies.
Story Behind the Blood Knight
When asked about the story behind the Blood Knight’s creation during the stream on Diablo 4 Season 1 info, Ryan Quinn happily told the live stream released July 7th, 2023 on the official Youtube Channel for Diablo,
“I think historically when we released D.I (Diablo Immortal), we released it with six sorts of very very familiar, very very stalwart classes that all of us love that many of us have been playing for decades and it’s great to kind of indulge in that nostalgia.
It’s great to get that dopamine hit of playing a class but after six classes, it left us with the opportunity to do something that felt new and different do a supernatural class that’s kind of monstrous that does things that other dark classes like the Necromancer and the Demon Hunter don’t do and so we’re really really stoked about the opportunity to release the Blood Knight on everybody” –Ryan Quinn, Senior Narrative Designer for Diablo Immortal
