How to Craft Ammo in Crosswind
Crafting your own ammunition in Crosswind is essential for surviving tougher encounters. To successfully craft ammo, you need two key components:
- Homemade Gunpowder
- Bullets
Follow the steps below to efficiently gather materials and craft your own ammo.

Crafting Homemade Gunpowder
Homemade Gunpowder is crafted using the Millstone. To produce 5 units of Homemade Gunpowder, you will need:
- 25 Sulfur
- 25 Ash

Where to Find Sulfur
Sulfur is obtained by mining on the Foothills Islands, specifically the islands that contain Flax and Iron Ore. Mining Sulfur manually can be slow, so it is highly recommended to unlock the Miner NPC later in the game.

The Miner NPC can be contracted to gather large quantities of Sulfur passively, making this process far more efficient.

How to Get Ash
Ash is produced by burning wood in the Charcoal Kiln. This is one of the easiest resources to obtain, provided you have access to wood and a kiln.

Alternative Method for Ammo Early Game
Before you have access to the Miner NPC, farming Sulfur can be time-consuming. A more practical approach early on is to target Pirate Camps located in the Foothills area.
Of course, you will still need to craft bullets, but that’s the easy part — it’s the Homemade Gunpowder that’s the challenge.
Defeating the pirates and looting the chests they guard can provide you with easy access to Homemade Gunpowder and other resources. These camps respawn over time, making them a reliable and repeatable source for gathering materials.

Crafting Bullets at the Weaponsmith Table
Once you have acquired Homemade Gunpowder, you can craft bullets at the Weaponsmith Table. Several types of bullets are available, each requiring different materials and offering unique benefits:

Stone Bullets
- 5 Bullets crafted from 3 Stones
- Easily obtainable and the most practical ammo choice until the later stages of the game

Iron Bullets
- 5 Bullets crafted from 1 Iron Ingot
- Provides a 25% boost to projectile damage
- A good damage upgrade once Iron becomes readily available

Bone Shot
- 5 Pellets crafted from 5 Bones
- Fires 6 pellets, each dealing 30% of the weapon’s base damage (slash damage)
- Damage decreases over distance, making this option best suited for close-range combat

Enchanted Bullet
- 1 Bullet crafted at high cost
- Changes the damage type to Pierce
- Increases standard shot damage by 10%
- Increases critical hit damage by 20%
- Recommended for advanced players looking for maximum damage potential

Recommended Progression for Ammo Crafting
- Early Game: Focus on looting Pirate Camps for ammo and resources
- Mid Game: Craft and use only Stone Bullets while gathering basic materials
- Late Game: Unlock the Miner NPC and produce large amounts of Homemade Gunpowder
- End Game: Upgrade to Iron Bullets, Bone Shot, or Enchanted Bullets, depending on your preferred combat style
