What can be refunded
The refund offer for Steam products, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of play time, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store. Here’s an overview of how refunds work with other types of purchases.
DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT REFUNDS
(STEAM STORE CONTENT USABLE WITHIN ANOTHER GAME OR SOFTWARE APPLICATION, “DLC”)
DLC purchased from the Steam store can be refunded within fourteen days of purchase, as long as the associated title has been played for less than two hours since the DLC was purchased and the DLC has not been consumed, modified, or transferred. Please note that in some cases Steam may not be able to issue refunds for some third-party DLCs (for example, if the DLC irreversibly levels up a game character). These exceptions will be clearly marked as non-refundable on the store page prior to purchase.
REFUNDS ON IN-GAME PURCHASES
Steam offers refunds for purchases made in all Valve developed games within forty-eight hours of purchase, as long as the in-game item has not been consumed, modified, or transferred. Other developers have the option to also enable refunds for items in their game under these terms. Steam will tell you at the time of purchase if the game developer has chosen to offer refunds for the item you purchase. Otherwise, in-game purchases in non-Valve games are not refundable through Steam.
REFUNDS ON TITLES PURCHASED IN PRE-SALE.
When you purchase a title on Steam in advance (and you’ve already paid for it), you can request a refund as long as that title has not yet been released. The standard 14 day/two hour refund period also applies from the game’s release date.
STEAM WALLET BALANCE REFUNDS
You can request a refund of any balance in your Steam Wallet within fourteen days of purchase, provided it was purchased on Steam and you have not used any of it.
