Where to Find Nails in Crosswind
As you dive deeper into Crosswind, you will often find yourself in need of nails, as they are required for a wide range of items. Below, we have created a guide detailing all the ways to get them.

Method 1: Scavenging from Shipwrecks
The first and easiest way to get nails is by finding shipwrecks scattered along the shores of islands and destroying them with your axe. This will give you a small number of nails to get you started. While this method is perfect at the beginning, we highly recommend skipping it later in the game.

Method 2: Crafting at the Workbench
The second and best option for a more reliable and scalable source of nails is crafting. You will need to locate copper and iron ore throughout the islands and smelt them into ingots. The type of ingot you use determines how many nails you get.
From Copper to Nails
Once you have mined copper ore and smelted it into copper ingots, you can convert these into nails at your workbench. The current conversion rate is:
- 1 Copper Ingot = 5 Nails
This method is ideal for your early-game needs, as copper is a relatively common resource.

From Iron to Nails
As you progress and gain the ability to mine and smelt iron, you will unlock a more efficient way to produce nails. Iron ingots yield a significantly higher number of nails compared to copper. The conversion at the workbench is as follows:
- 1 Iron Ingot = 10 Nails
In the late game, we highly recommend getting the Mining Contractor from Tortuga. You can send him on missions to passively collect iron ore for you, ensuring you are never short of iron ingots.

What Can Nails Be Used For in Crosswind?
While they may seem like a simple item, nails are a cornerstone of your progression in Crosswind. You will find yourself in constant need of them for two primary purposes:
- Building and Decoration: Nails are needed for the majority of high-tier decorations and building recipes that make your house look great and raise its comfort level.
- Expanding Your Storage: Arguably, the most critical use for nails, especially in the early game, is for creating larger storage chests.

Please note: Crosswind is still in its Alpha stage and all features are subject to change.
