Our Complete Guide to Crafting in Runescape: Dragonwilds

Crafting in Runescape Dragonwilds gets more complex the more you progress through the game. You will start off with some simple crafting stations such as the Campfire and move on up to the full cooking stove as you make your way through the game. This is not a comprehensive list of all the crafting stations.

The Crafting Table

The Campfire and THE Crafting Table will likely be among some of the first things you build in the game. These are essentially your gateway into the game. From here you will be able to craft your

The Basics of Crafting Tables in Dragonwilds

Most of the crafting stations in the game work in a similar way. You put your resource in the top and it will tell you what you get a the bottom!

This is an example of two basic crafting stations, the Spinning Wheel and a Campfire. As you can see there is an extra box on the Campfire station, this is because it needs fuel to get the fire going.

Eventually, more in-depth versions of stations can be built, for example, the Cooking Pot – compared to the Campfire above. The Cooking Range doesn’t increase complexity, however, offers complete meals, such as Pizza.

Crafting

Below is a simple to understand guide of each form of crafting available in Runescape: Dragonwilds.

Smithing Forge

The Smithing Forge is your go-to crafting station for metal items. In the context of Runescape: Dragonwilds, this is your access to weapons and armor throughout the game.

Each item recipe you unlock becomes available here, you’ll have access to crafting the following types of gear:

  • Tools
  • One-Handed Weapons
  • Two-Handed Weapons
  • Shields
  • Armour
  • Ammo
  • Quest Items (some of them)
  • Masterwork Components
  • Masterworks

You can also use this station to repair your gear too. However, we recommend using the “Magical Mending” Spell to repair everything at once for free – no materials needed.

Pottery Wheel

With a simple function, the Pottery Wheel mainly serves to create Clay Vessels, Jewelry moulds or decorative pieces. The Clay Vessels can then be fired in a Kiln – to be used later on for various crafts. As a result, it’s important to note that multiple crafting stations have overlapped uses.

Rune Altar

Should you run out of Runes, the Rune Altar is the place to go. By gathering Rune Essence throughout the world, you’ll be able to convert Rune Essence into 10x of any available Rune to craft per 1 Rune Essence.

The Rune Altar also holds the ability to craft Wardstones. These Wardstones act as a consumable to replenish your armor’s protection in combat.

Processing in Runescape: Dragonwilds

Processing is another form of crafting in Runescape: Dragonwilds. You’ll need to process and craft materials to use other stations and craft their items too.

Spinning Wheel

Spinning Wheel is your main crafting station to create string-like materials out of base materials in the game. For example, Flax creates Coarse Thread. While things like Swamp Weed, creates Swamp Thread and Fleece creates Wool Thread.

Tannery

Used for Leatherworking, the Tannery provides you with the option to create different types of Leather from hides found throughout Ashenfall. Leather is especially useful for certain gear – craft-able in the Smithing Forge, or even for furniture.

Improvements

The little station next to the Tannery as seen above is known as an “Improvement”. Improvements in Runescape: Dragonwilds act as an “add-on” to an existing station – evolving their function. For example, the “Tanner’s Kit” Improvement adds an addition slot on the Tannery. This slot holds “Adhesive” – used to create other types of Leather, such as Hard Leather.

Kiln

Used for it’s intense heating capabilities, the Kiln specializes in burning down items into finer materials – or even firing them – such as the Clay Vessel (created on the Pottery Wheel). This is your one-stop-shop to materials such as Charcoal.

Loom

The Loom is the next stop you’ll make after crafting threads in the Spinning Wheel. Using different kinds of Thread produces different types of Cloth.

Much like the Tannery, the Loom also has an Improvement – the “Loom Harness”. This add-on adds an extra slot, allowing you to add multiple types of Cloth to create stronger, reinforced Cloth materials.

Furnace

Need to refine Ores into Bars? Look no further than the Furnace. Most Ores in Runescape: Dragonwilds are a one-to-one smelting process. For example, Iron Bars simply need Iron Ores to be smelted in the Furnace. However, for Bronze Bars, you’ll need to smelt both Copper and Tin Ore together – utilizing both Furnace slots. You’ll need various bars for gear, stations and furniture etc.

Brewing Cauldron

Brewing Cauldron is one of the more complex Crafting Stations in Runescape: Dragonwilds. With 3 slots for input, and coal as the main burning resource – there is a lot of options that could be confusing at first.

Essentially, different combinations between these 3 slots create different types of potions. There is a few styles of potions that can be made, such as:

  • XP Booster Potions for Skills
  • Combat Potions
  • Consumables like Health Potions

For example, a combination of Clay Vessel, Animal Bone and Marrentill creates a “Weak Focused Mining Potion”.

As a result, mix and match, try out some combinations and see what Potions you can create.

Grindstone

For fine powder, the Grindstone is the station for you. Inputting materials such as Sandstone, Stone and Granite produces a fine powder, used for other crafts. As can be seen, each crafting station assists another in producing items.

Sawmill

The Sawmill is your standard station used for creating Planks from Logs. Logs such as Ash Logs or Oak Logs are found far and wide across Ashenfall. Simply use a Hatchet to cut down trees and harvest the Logs. Taking the to the Sawmill and inputting them creates a lot of Planks, usable for building materials and even some gear.
