Attention Gamers! With Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon just released on August 25 2023, players have been enjoying the post-apocalyptic world in Armored Core 6.
In this Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, we’ll be tackling all you need to know in regards to missions, walkthrough, strategies and rewards. Without further a do, here’s Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide
Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide
Mission 1: Illegal Entry
When you first start the game, you’ll be greeted with a cutscene. You’ll land on Rubicon(The game’s planet) and this will be a tutorial stage as your first mission. A voice by the name of Walter will be your handler and will guide you throughout the whole chapter.
The game will ease you in on how to maneuver 621(Your mech’s model number and name for now). Once you got the controls down. Head straight and a tutorial will pop up showing you how to use your boosters.
Head straight and a new tutorial will pop up showing you how to do combat. Once you’re done fighting and getting a feel for the combat. You will need to head to a straight narrow path.
While on this narrow path. The game will have another pop-up tutorial showcasing you how to use repair kits.
After that, the game will have you interact with a catapult and a cutscene will play out putting you in a different area.
In this section. You will need to interact with some wreckages in order to get a mercenary license. There will be 3 markers in the area, you’ll need to interact with all of these markers in order to proceed.
After interacting with all 3 wreckages. You find out that none of the wreckages have any mercenary license that you need. Walter provides you a new wreckage for you to search for. After interacting with a Vertical Catapult for a vertical launch. You will find the last wreckage in a crater.
After interacting with the wreckage, an AC Helicopter will fly down and attack you, this will be your first boss battle on the tutorial mission.
The fight for this is extremely simple. Use your boosters to dodge incoming missiles while also attacking to build up it’s ACS or Attitude Control System(Yellow bar at the top of boss’s health) gauge to deal massive damage. Keep repeating this cycle until you have defeated the mini boss. Once defeated you will complete your first mission

Mission 2: Grid 135 Clean Up
You can choose what mission you want to start first but for this guide, we’ll recommend this one as it’s a simple mission. In this mission during the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you just need to defeat some enemies.

Mission 3: Destroy Artillery Installations
In this mission during our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you’ll just need to find and destroy key targets to complete the mission.
This area is semi-open world as you can freely explore and pick whatever objectives you want to go for first.
Once you have picked a path, you will then be greeted with armored artilleries. These are your key targets. Simply destroy these units by attacking it from behind and move on to the next path until the mission is complete.

The armored artilleries are slow to turn so you’ll have an easier time attacking it from the back. Onto the next mission in our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide.
Mission 4: Destroy the Transport Helicopters
In this mission during our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you’ll need to destroy key targets to complete the mission, a similar to mission 3. This also introduces you to the game’s Combat Log.
These will be your key targets which are the transport helicopters. Completing this mission will require you to destroy these key targets at different parts of the map.
Along the way you’ll encounter a tetrapod. This enemy may prove challenging but knowing it’s attack pattern and slowly filling it’s ACS will get the job done in no time.
Dealing with the tetrapod
Here is a quick video detailing and dealing with the tetrapod using the starting equipment.
Some key features you will need to consider:
Always pre-emptively dodge – As most of the attacks in this game is instant so learn to dodge sideways even if there’s no attack as a second nature will boost your survivability in this game.
Bait out it’s sword – Moving in to bait out it’s sword and quickly dodging it will leave the tetrapod vulnerable for a quick melee attack of your own.
Time your ranged weapons – Filling up an enemy’s ACS is the number one goal of dealing with a dangerous enemy as once the ACS gauge is filled, the enemy will be in a vulnerable state and will receive additional damage. Use your shoulder weapons if your arm weapon is down/reloading and vice versa.

It’s okay to not fight the tetrapod if you’re not comfortable fighting it yet. Fighting the tetrapod is optional and you can ignore it and destroy the key target instead while escaping. Let’s move on to the next mission in our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide.
Mission 5: Destroy the tester AC
In this mission of our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you’ll encounter your very first AC enemy. AC just means Armored Core which is what your mech is right now. No, you’ll not be fighting other people’s AC. An AI is controlling the AC in this fight and subsequent AC in further chapters. So use it as a reference if you wish to fight other people in the future with Armored Core 6’s PVP mode.
Here’s a quick video about the fight.
Here’s also some strategies that you can use in order to keep the fight safe and fast:
Fill out ACS – It’s worth noting that filling up the ACS gauge using your range weapons are a safe option. Once the ACS is overloaded, follow up with a melee attack.
Use the blade – You can either bait the blade and counter attack with your own, or you can use the blade first. Either way, the AC will most likely prioritize dodging so use the blade as much as you want.

You’ll encounter more and more ACs in the future, so be prepared to change your gear, and weapons and also improve dodging or perfect blocking to increase your survivability. The next mission on our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, coming up!
Mission 6: Attack the Dam complex
In this mission during our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you will need to destroy key targets, similar to missions 3 and 4 while also being accompanied by 2 ACs as allies, G5 Iguazu “HEAD BRINGER” and G4 Volta “CANNON HEAD”. The difference is that key targets change between areas.
Your first key target are these facilities. You’ll need to destroy of these which are pretty close to one another.
Your second key target are now these frontline MT’s. Both of your allies will not follow you here so you’ll need to take care of these frontline MT’s yourself.
Mission 6: Optional Log Hunt
Once you’re done with the frontline MTs, head back to the second facility you just destroyed. There is a Combat Log Hunt tetrapod unit nearby. This is purely optional as the tetrapod is really powerful. You can ignore this and finish the mission and come back again.
Dealing with the Tetrapod
If you want to defeat the tetrapod then here’s a quick video to help you get a better idea of defeating the tetrapod. It’s the same playstyle as in Mission 4. However, it comes with a high-powered launcher so be ready to dodge or perfectly block it. I’ve also changed the right arm into a machine gun to have better odds of defeating the tetrapod. You can purchase different types of guns and gear via the Parts Shop.
Before starting the fight. It’s best to remove the 2 sentries on top of the dam as fighting the tetrapod while these sentries are active will make the fight more challenging. Here’s a refresher on the previous tips.
Time your range weapons – Filling up an enemy’s ACS is the number one goal of dealing with a dangerous enemy as once the ACS gauge is filled, the enemy will be in a vulnerable state and will receive additional damage. Use your shoulder weapons if your arm weapon is down/reloading and vice versa.
Your last key target will be this tower. Simply destroy it to finish the mission.

By this point, you have some weapons and gears in the Parts Shop. The gimmick in this game is that it allows you to customize your mech to whatever builds you so choose. So do try out many combinations and experiment until you find the right playstyle for you. Next mission on Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, is on its way!
Mission 7: Destroy the Weaponized Mining Ship
In this mission of our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you’ll be taking on a Strider. We’ll go over on how to defeat it and provide you a step-by-step process. Yes, you’ll be destroying this behemoth of a giant.
Be wary of the blue laser that will attack you while you make your approach to the Strider
The first order of business once you’ve gotten close is to sever its leg unit. This will create a foothold for you while also making the strider unable to move.
Once you’re on board the strider, you’ll need to destroy 4 sub-generators to completely render the strider immobile.
The best and safe way to destroy the sub-generators is by going to the bottom sub-generator first as there’s a platform in the middle. You can use this as a landmark so that it’s much safer going from one sub-generator to another.
Once you destroyed the bottom sub-generator. You can choose if you want to go to the right or left side as both paths are identical and are safer.
Whatever you do, DO NOT PATH TO THE TOPSIDE as you’ll be greeted with the blue laser you encountered earlier. The snippet above will demonstrate what happens if you path to the topside.
When you’re finished with the bottom and side sub-generators, the only sub-generator left is the topside generator. Despite having the threat of the blue laser. This can be blocked by the sub-generator which is why it’s safer to destroy the top sub-generator last.
When all of the 4 sub-generators have been destroyed, you can now attack the Strider Eye. Be wary of its charge attack. It doesn’t attack using the laser anymore but it will charge up to deliver an AOE blast that deals a lot of damage if you get caught in its radius. It’s best to keep your distance once the eye begins to charge.
You’ll also need to watch out for missiles that the eye will throw out as well. Once you defeat the Strider’s Eye, you need to get out immediately as the Strider will self-destruct.
Now you can watch the Strider collapse while you walk away like a boss. Good job, 621.

At this point, you should consider upgrading your weapons, especially your right hand. Upgrade your shoulder weapons to both having vertical missile launcher with a x8 rockets. You can find these parts/weapons in the Menu via Parts Shop. Next mission on the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide.
Mission 8: Operation Wallclimber
In this mission in the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, we’ll be attacking the Liberation Front Fortress also called “The Wall”. This mission will also introduce a new boss called “The Juggernaut” whom we will be fighting alongside an ally.
You’ll start off outside of the wall and you’ll need to work your way getting in while also fighting some mechs along the way.
Keep on a look out for bazookas on top of the wall while fighting as being hit by these missiles will deal a huge amount of damage.
Firstly, you’ll need to destroy the armored Gatling cannons. Same with mission 3, you’ll need to attack them from behind to deal damage to the cannons.
Once you’re done with the cannons, proceed forward while dodging rockets and you’ll encounter a tetrapod.
Recommended: Clear out the cannons from the side of the tetrapod so that you can have a much easier time fighting the tetrapod 1v1.
Once you have defeated the tetrapod, you can now infiltrate the wall. This section is linear so just proceed forward and defeat some enemies along the way until you have reached a lift.
Once you have gone up the lift. Walter will provide you with a supply sherpa which you can restock your repair kits, health, ammunition, expansions etc. This is before moving to confront the Juggernaut. You’ll then be joined by V.VI “Rusty”
Mission 8 Boss Fight: The Juggernaut
In this section of our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, we’ll tackle everything you need to know in regards to the boss fight Juggernaut. The Juggernaut is a large armored unit with “Tank” legs. What this means is that this unit is primarily grounded as it has a charge attack where it will charge on you at full speed. Keep in mind that the Juggernaut’s front is heavily armored, so don’t waste your ammunition.
First Phase
The first phase will consist of you and your ally V.IV “Rusty” working together in taking down the Juggernaut. Have V.IV “Rusty take the aggro while you attack from behind. Fill up the ACS meter to overload the Juggernaut to deal massive damage. Repeat the process until the first phase is done.
Second phase start
When the Juggernaut reaches 50% health. Snail(Rusty’s commander) will issue him to fend off some remaining force on the frontline and if he doesn’t go then they will be toast(as per dialogue). This will force Rusty to leave you fighting the Juggernaut all by yourself.
Second Phase
Here’s a quick video on how fighting the Juggernaut looks like in it’s second phase here at our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. Don’t be intimidated that you’ll have to fight this boss alone. Here’s also some great strategies to go for when dealing with the Juggernaut as per the video.
Hover – Due to the Juggernaut having Tank Legs, it is primarily grounded. Aerial attacks such as hovering above will be your go-to strategy in defeating the Juggernaut.
Watch your EN output – Always keep a lookout on your EN bar as this is the only resource you have for you to stay afloat.
Use Vertical Missiles – Due to the Juggernaut frontal armor, using vertical missiles will help you tremendously as these missiles will hit the target from above.
Keeping repeating this tips until the Juggernaut has an ACS overload. Once overloaded, you can use your blade to deal massive amount of damage from the Juggernaut’s back. Do be careful though as the attach should be from the upper back not on the tank legs as this will not count as a hit.
Mission 8: Optional Log Hunt
In this section of the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. Some missions will have some optional task that you can complete. This doesn’t have any change on the story but it is a task that you can go for.
On mission 8: Operation Wallclimber. There is a Combat Log unit that you can hunt during your push towards the wall. The location for this unit will be on the left most part on the city before the wall. You can use the GIF above as reference for the location.

Mission 9: Retrieve Combat Logs
In this mission during our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, Walter will be providing you info regarding the wreckages from the battlefield that Rusty created and left. You’ll need to scan these wreckages to retrieve it’s data.
This mission does have a 4-minute time limit so you’ll have to be fast before collecting the data. There’s a total of 8 Combat Log Data entries that you can retrieve, but you can have at least 5 combat log data for the mission to be successful.
In this Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. We’ll tackle everything you need to know for you to get a successful payout for this mission.
Combat Log Locations (Mission 9)
1) First Location
The first Combat log is just below you.
2) Second Location
The second combat log location will be on the right side from the first one.
3) Third Location
Go over the building and head straight. You’ll be able to see a smoking wreckage from a distance and that will be your third combat log location.
4) Fourth Location
The fourth combat location is just ahead from the third location. Simply head straight to the smoking wreckage.
5) Fifth Location
The 5th location for the combat log is just beside from the 4th location. Do be careful as moving to the 5th location will spawn 4 enemies so either clear them quickly or head straight to the 6th location instead.
6) Sixth Location
6th location is pretty far away, which is why to either clear or leave the enemies from the 5th location. The 6th location is behind the 5th location. You’ll need to boost your way up, which is close to where you started the mission. There’s a reason why this is the 6th location to it being connected to the 7th location.
You can immediately head for this location as your first location when you first start the mission and then follow the path for the other subsequent locations. Either way, you need to save a lot of time before hitting the 8th location.
7) Seventh Location
The 7th location is basically under the 6th location.
8) Eighth Location
The 8th location is beside the 7th location.
Mission 9: Optional Log Hunt
Once you’re at the 8th location, an AC will spawn and attack you. This fight is completely optional and you can defeat her if you have enough time left. This is the main reason as to why you need to have some time left as fighting the AC may took a minute or 2 to defeat.
If you choose not to fight the AC, you can just simply scan the wreckage to complete the mission. However, if you do decide to fight the AC, you’ll need to ignore the wreckage and first defeat the AC as scanning the wreckage will complete the mission.
Rewards

You can choose what location you want to head to first but we believe this path for this mission in our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide will provide a much faster time. Next mission on our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide:
Mission 10: Investigate BAWS Arsenal No. 2
In this mission of our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you will be tasked to Investigate BAWS Arsenal No. 2. Walter will brief you in on why the facility became silent. Walter also mentioned in the briefing to “Expect the unexpected”.
You’ll first start on the horizon from the facility. You’ll be introduced to an eerie place where you need to learn as to what happened here.
Moving forward, you’ll come across someone aiming at you from the shadows, you will be notified by a beeping sound before firing. Walter will then inform you that these mechs are MMDs, a stealth mech. Walter also exclaims that this is the reason as to why the facility become silent. Dodge the beam and head to that MMD.
Ranged MMD will escape quickly if given the chance, so quickly overload it’s ACS to deal massive damage to defeat them faster.
You’ll also encounter melee MMDs. These stealth mechs will attack you using a pulse whip which has decent range and damage. Melee MMDs will also project pulse missile but this has a very short range. Keep the melee MMD at bay while you use your gun to fill out it’s ACS. Once overloaded, you can burst them pretty easily.
Scanning the environment by using the hotkey “V”(Default) can help you find other stealth MMDs who are waiting around corners.
Keep moving forward and you’ll eventually end up in a dead end. However, this is not a dead end but rather a Coral Well. You’ll need to head down inside the well to continue your investigation.
While inside the well. Walter then confirms that BAWS has been hiding a “well” all this time.
While continuing to investigate further, you’ll eventually be ambushed by not 2 or 3 but 4 MMDs. 3 Ranged and 1 Melee with a pulse armor to be exact. Dealing damage to the melee MMD will prove to be difficult as it contains a pulse armor.
The best way to overcome this ambush is to defeat the ranged MMDs one by one. You’ll need to locate them from where they’re shooting. They usually latch themselves on the walls so look at the walls and see if you can spot them shooting.
Once you have found them, you can shoot them once to completely overload it’s ACS. While overloaded, you can use your blade to make quick work of them.
When all the ranged MMDs have been defeated. You can now fight the melee MMD without any ranged MMDs shooting at you from a distance. Here’s a quick video to get a feel of the fight. Make worth with your range weapon to completely deplete the pulse armor’s gauge. Once depleted, the melee MMD will have an ACS overload.
Rewards
COAM | X 180,000 |
Bonus Pay condition | N/A |
Unlike ACS, pulse armor’s gauge does not regenerate so whatever damage you have inflicted, it will stay there until the pulse armor is depleted. Once depleted, it will take some time before the pulse armor is generated again so make use this window to defeat the melee MMD. Next on Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide:
Mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint
In this final mission at Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, you will be attacking the watchpoint solo. Unlike any other missions. This is a personal request from Walter’s friend.
In the first section of this final mission on the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. You will start by overlooking the watchpoint. You need to defeat all the enemies in this section to proceed. There are 2 big artillery beam cannons that you need to watch out for as getting hit with its beam will deal a lot of damage while also increasing your ACS gauge to a large amount. Use buildings and low ground to take cover or dodge when necessary to avoid its beam.
In the first section of this final mission to our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. There are also 2 big artillery beam cannons here. You’ll need to defeat all of the enemies in this section to proceed. The difference in this section from the first one is that all of the enemies here are snipers.
You can go to the right side to have a much safer path towards the first artillery beam cannon. Keep going into cover while also taking care of the snipers and finally the last artillery beam cannon.
After clearing section 2, you have a clear view of the watchpoint. Continue moving forward and you’ll encounter an AC named C1-249 “Sulla”.
Mission 11 Boss Fight: C1-249 “Sulla”
In this boss fight guide for the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, C1-249 “Sulla” is your basic bipedal AC enemy with a lot of mobility to his kit. We’ll take a look at some strategies we can use to defeat him in this boss fight guide for the Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. Firstly, let’s take a look at what he’s got and what he does.
Weaponry
Right Arm Unit | |
Left Arm Unit | |
Right Shoulder Unit | |
Left Shoulder Unit |
Frame Unit
Head unit | |
Core Unit | |
Arms Unit | |
Legs Unit |
Playstyle
C1-249 “Sulla” is a lightweight Bipedal unit with heavy artillery weaponry that consists of a Pulse Gun in his left hand, a Detonating Bazooka in his Right hand, a JVLN Detonating Missile Launcher on his left shoulder and a Plasma Missile Launcher. Sulla’s Frame consists of the VP – Series.
Due to its weaponry and frame parts. Sulla will slowly wither you down with its pulse gun while keeping your ACS top up. Partner this up with a lot of explosive weaponry and any hit will deal a lot of damage and gain a lot of ACS gauge. Because of its lightweight nature. C1-249 “Sulla” can dodge most of your heavy artillery attacks and can get up to 3 consecutive dodge boosts.
Strategies
Use Sulla’s dodge to your advantage – Now we know that Sulla can dodge dash up to 3 times. We can bait him by shooting one of our ranged weapons for Sulla to dodge. Once he uses up all of his dodges, you can fire a much heavier damage weapon such as the bazooka, grenade launcher or even your blade.
Time your dodge – Most of Sulla’s weapon threats are his heavy artillery weapons such as the bazooka and missile launcher. It’s best to prioritize dodging/shielding this type of attack.
Be wary of your ACS meter – because Sulla has a Pulse gun and a Plasma missile launcher, take extra care on your ACS meter as not taking notice of it may build your ACS meter way too quickly and once you’re in overload, Sulla will use one of it’s heavy artillery weapon in that state to deal massive damage.
Mission 11 Boss Fight: APP07 “Balteus”
Balteus will be your final boss in this final mission of our Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. This boss fight will prove challenging but here on this Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide, we’ll be tackling some of the best strategies to defeat him and also learn his move-set on what to watch out for. Balteus boss fight will consist of 2 phases. What this means is that Balteus will have some new move-sets and combos when it reaches its second phase.
First Phase Moveset
Bullet Barrage
Balteus will constantly attack you using a barrage of missiles.
Missile Attack
Balteus will also attack you using a Missile Attack at your current location.
Balteus Attack before Second Phase
At 50% health, Balteus will begin charging a pulse energy that will explode, dealing aoe damage if you are caught in the radius. Keep your distance once Balteus is almost at 50% health.
Second Phase Moveset
There will be some changes to how Balteus’ move-set works in its second phase.
Second Phase Missile Attack
Balteus’ second phase missile attack will now track and predict the player’s movement before firing. Opposed to the First Phase where it will only shoot at the exact location of the player.
Scissor Attack
Balteus will form a scissor attack using it’s blade if the player is far.
Napalm Attack
Balteus will sometimes fire what seems to be a napalm strike as the flame from the attack lingers and will damage the player when stepped on.
Bullets to Blade to Bullets combo
This combo is pretty common if Balteus gets close. Balteus will set up some homing missiles in the air while shooting some homing missiles to the side. Once the side missiles strike, Balteus will begin to do a blade slash twice. First from the left side then from the right side, and finally the homing missiles from above will swing down finishing the combo.
Strategy for defeating Balteus
The Recommended build would be a long-range type in the case of both shoulder weapons being missile launchers, Pulse blade on the left hand and any weapon on the right hand. However, multiple combinations can work to take down Balteus.
To execute this strategy, keep some distance between you and Balteus and barrage him with missile launchers from afar while dodging his attacks until the pulse armor breaks. Once broken, Assault boost to go in then hit him with your blade while having your right-hand weapon deal some additional damages as well. Keep repeating the process until Balteus is defeated even in his second phase.
You need to learn how to dodge some attacks and in this section in this Armored Core 6 Chapter 1 Guide. We’ll tackle everything you need to know to dodge Balteus’ attacks.
Dodging Balteus Attacks
Dodging Balteus Missile Barrage
You can easily counter Balteus’ full-on missile barrage by assault boosting to the top left of Balteus and spamming the left-directional movement. If you assault boost to the top right, then spam the right-directional movement instead.
Blade Tech
Keep on a lookout on which side Balteus uses its blade first. If it started from the left side then there’s going to be a follow-up from the right. If it started from the right side then there’s no follow-up.
Dodging Missile attack
Some pointers to dodge this attack are to know what phase the fight is right now.
First Phase – (From the ground) Just jump to any side as the missile will be firing at your exact location.
Second Phase – (From the ground) Move to one side then dodge to the opposite side when the missile is fired as during the second phase, Balteus can now track the players and predict your movement before firing.
Dodging Balteus Scissor attack
Balteus will wind up its attack before striking. Once you see this wind-up, simply jump and hover to dodge the attack.
Dodging Napalm Attack
Unlike the Scissor attack and the Missile attack. The Napalm attack may caught you off-guard as by the time you see the visual and audio cue, you’re too late to dodge the attack. Which is why It’s best to match Balteus’ movement when he moves from the ground to up as this may indicate that an attack will happen.
