Jina is the curious archeologist of Kilima Village, a researcher of history to learn more about the ancient knowledge about humans, and a companion of Hekla. She will be your go-to NPC for most of the main quest. Throughout your journey in Palia, you will encounter mysterious objects and key items that she can provide clarity to. She will be able to guide you through these items and might give you quests along the way.

Jina Map Location
As Jina is a dedicated researcher. you can often find her in the Kilima Village’s library and sometimes near the ruins and caverns excavating for artifacts and clues about humanity and the past. If you see Hekla walking by, there’s a high chance you’ll see Jina with the golem too. You can occasionally hear Jina singing her lullabies if you’re in the vicinity and not looking at the map.
An example in this map, you can see beside the Mirror Pond Ruins that Hekla’s icon is on top of Jina’s icon. So if you can’t find Jina anywhere on the map, it is most likely she’s just beside her best bud.
Quests
Once you’ve created your character in Palia, you’ll promptly dive into the game with a cutscene of you materializing from a ball of light. The cave you spawned into is the Phoenix Falls, you’ll come across Jina and her best friend, Hekla. As shocked as she is, Jina becomes stoked to actually witness the embodiment of what she’s been studying for years. After conversing with Jina, the tutorial quest “Welcome To Palia” will be triggered automatically. This quest will introduce you to a handful of Villagers and guide mastering essential skills. The tutorial quest requires you to fulfill several objectives, aiding players steadily be accustomed to their new life in Kilima Village.

Vault of Waves
As you progress to the main quest. you will be tasked to talk with Jina in the Night Sky Temple. Upon talking to her. she will ask you to interact with the stone. After interacting with the stone, you’ll be asked to go back to her for the final dialogue to finish the quest.
The Key
You can find The Broken Key on top of the mountain inside a rock. Try picking the rocks on the mountain to find the broken key. Once you found it, you can return to Jina. Note: although she will not have an indicator on her icon on the map, you can still talk to her and complete the quest.
Open the Door – Solve the Third Riddle
This is part of a series of quests where you are required to solve the riddles to open the door. The third riddle is as follows, “To help Jina open the door, find the item mentioned in the riddle that “compresses the sand of time”.
To solve the third riddle, you have to have a “pearl”. You can find pearls inside some unopened oysters along the coasts of Bahari Bay. When you obtained one pearl, you will be tasked to go talk to her.
Friendship and Romance
Along with other NPCs in the game, you can acquaint yourself and become friends with Jina by earning relationship points. You can also deepen and push further to a romantic relationship with her, but this will be available soon as confirmed by the Devs.

- Chat with them every Palian day (which resets hourly in real-world time)
- Giving them gifts once every real-world day.
- Gifting them unique types of gifts they call Weekly Wants (in order to know what gift they are looking for, you have to converse with the specific NPC like Auni or his friends)
- Progressing through character’s story arc by completing their storyline quests.
Complete Friendship Quest
Level 2 (The Key)
To unlock the quest, Jina`s friendship status must be at Curious Colleague.
Early in the morning, Jina will send you a letter regarding the discovery of a locked door. Jina asked if you could find the key.
To unlock the door. Jina need a special key. She stated it could be hidden in the rocks.
You can find the Key by mining nodes or rocks. Remember that you will not get the key on the first try, so keep mining!
When the debris of rocks is picked up, A broken key is included in the pile. Good job!
Jina said that the key you found is only half. The other half is still a mystery. If the two parts are combined, Hekla will fix it to open the door. Jina said she will try to find the other piece.
The Quest is now finished. You will receive 5 brightshroom and 20 renown for your work!
Level 3 (Open the Door)
She said that Hekla and her found the key to the door in the 2nd Friendship Quest. It didn’t work, It needed some kind of riddle to be solved.
To solve the Riddle, interact with this monument found in the center of Kilima Village. With this, The Quest Trigger will move on to the next stage and return to Jina for the next riddle.
While talking to Jina, She will give you a hint for the second riddle. It is bound with a “Stone that represents the sands of time”. Can you guess it? Don’t worry, I got your back. It is a Pearl!
Get a Pearl by eating an Unopened Oyster and place it in your inventory. Talk to Jina and the quest will be completed! Congratulations! With this, The tricky Third level of Friendship with Jina has come to an End.
Level 4 (Cheer Up)
Explorer Buddies! Now that you and Jina are Study Buddies. You can complete her 4th quest. Talk to her!
Jina said that Hekla is worried and sad. She asked you to talk to Hekla about his worries
Hekla wanted Jina to open up to him. Hekla wanted to make a mushroom-based liquid meal for Jina, which is Jina`s favorite meal. Hekla wanted your help to make the dish Jina wanted.
Hekla will give you the recipe for the Cream of Mushroom Soup. These are the ingredients to make one. Return to Jina once you have cooked it.
Jina knew that Hekla wanted her to be happy.
Jina is sad because the Bahari Institute does not recognize her as a Scholar. Jina said that there are ruins in Bahari Bay. She wanted you to check on them.
Visits the site for Jina`s inspiration on her new thesis.
These are the three locations of the site. First, let’s head over to Flooded Fortress since it is the one near our current location.
There is nothing to claim on the site. You just need to walk around and it will be ticked off on the list. Quite easy right! Now on to the next site.
The 2nd site is just over the Pavel Mines Bridge. Explore the site and it is done and dusted! Now on to the last one! It can be located in Hideaway Bluffs
Explore this mountain range and you are done! Go back to Jina.
Tell Jina what you have discovered in the ruins. Tell her that it could be interesting to study that place.
Now the Cheer Up Quest is complete! Study Buddies are more deepened to explore new ruins and temples. Way to go!
Gifts for Jina
Giving gifts to NPCs is one of the ways to improve your relationship with them. Jina loves:
- Mutated anglers
- Brightshrooms
- Pearls
She has her Weekly Wants that rotate every week so be sure to talk to her or Hekla to know which one of these to please her, here are a couple:

In summary. Jina will be with you throughout your journey of finishing the main quest and provides you with some backstory of the world of Palia. Be sure to go back to Jina when you find mysterious items that are obvious to be some kind of quest item. Talk to her every palian day to gain her trust and soon to be able to romance her.
