He Who Control the Spice, Controls the Universe – A Short History of Dune

The History of Dune is bigger than you probably know… Originating back in 1965 with the novel by Frank Herbert. It is often described as the best selling science fiction novel in history. We will be actively working on building a simple Dune Timeline for us to read.

Frank Herbert passed away in 1986. Beginning in 1999 his son Brian Herbert and science fiction author Kevin J. Anderson published a number of prequel novels as well as two sequels that complete the original Dune series. Hunters of Dune in 2006 and Sandworms of Dune in 2007. These were partially based of Frank Herberts notes which were discovered nearly a decade after his death. Today we take a quick look at the History of Dune.

The story of Dune begins with Paul Atreides.

“A young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, he must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the galaxy’s exclusive supply of spice—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”
