Contents of Tall Tales
Sea of Thieves has so much content to keep the players busy, this includes simple treasure hunts while volcanos are erupting or going against skeleton ships. The more you play the game, the more you realize there are endless things to do, such as Tall Tales.
Tall Tales are essentially a story driven mode of quests that you can follow in order to understand the lore of the game but also gives you a challenge to solve puzzles for good rewards. It is a really good way to get into the game because you can do this on your own or with a group of friends.
Maiden Voyage
Maiden Voyage is on the Tall Tale commendations list, which is a tutorial campaign. This helps brand-new players learn the very basics of the game, such as digging up treasure and learning how to repair and control your ship.
Shores of Gold Tall Tale
The very first Tall Tales that were added to the game are the Shores of Gold Tall Tales. It will require you as a player or as a team of friends to start with the Shroudbreaker Quest and slowly complete each episode one by one.
As you progress through these episodes, you will unlock the next part of the series while earning in-game rewards such as huge amounts of gold and cosmetics items like swords and outfits. The final Tall Tale of this series is The Shores of Gold.
To start this series, head towards any outpost and head inside the tavern. You will notice a mysterious stranger at the back of the room against a door. Next to him is a book which starts the first episode of the Shores of the Gold Tall tale called The Shroudbreaker.
There is a total of 9 tall tales in the first series which we have put in order below.

The Seabound Soul Tall Tale
After you complete the first series of 9 Tall Tales, you will unlock a single Tall Tale called The Seabound Soul.
The Seabound Soul is about Arthur Pendragon who was an “aristocratic adventurer” who saved many lost souls with his enchanted blade. You, as the player, will need to find the Blackwyche shipwreck and see what adventure he decides to send you on!
When you are ready, head towards Shipwreck Bay (M-10 on the map) in order to start this story driven quest.
- The Seabound Soul Tall Tale
Heart of Fire Tall Tale
Completing the previous Tall Tale, The Seabound Soul. You will then unlock the Heart of Fire Tall Tale.
The Heart of Fire Tall Tale is about the aftermath of Pendragon’s mistake that was caused in the last Tall Tale – The Seabound Soul. You, as an adventurer, will need to find and search for a hidden lair which is full of dangerous traps and enemies, so you can discover the truth and put a stop to it.
In order to start this Tall Tale, you will need to go to Morrow’s Peak Outpost which is V-17 on the map. Speak to Tallulah in the Charred Parrot tavern.
- Heart of Fire Tall Tale
A Pirate’s Life Tall Tale
Disney partnered with Rare (the developers) on June 22, 2021, and introduced Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life.
In the Pirates of the Carribean Tall Tale, you will get to experience rescuing the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow and helping him fight off Davy Jones in the Sea of Thieves! You will get to notice a lot of other familiar faces too which is amazing, such as Joshamee Gibbs.
This is a 5 part series of a Pirates of the Carribean themed story campaign. There are no requirements to start this Tall Tale, speak with the Castaway at her camp at any Outpost to start this series.

The Legend of Monkey Island Tall Tale
On September 28th 2023, Rare (the developers) teamed up with Lucasfilm Games and introduced The Legend of Monkey Island. Which is a 3 part story campaign series.
This Tall Tale is about facing a story where you will need to search and rescue Guybrush Threepwood who vanished when sailing to the Sea of Thieves. Upon doing this Tall Tale, you will see many familiar locations that were in the Monkey Island series.
You can start the first part at any given time if you head to the Castaway at any Outpost that you wish.
