Skill

The Skill family that the Smoke Bombs in Palia belong to is the Bug Catching Skill. The main NPC for this Skill is Auni. Bug Catching is home to everything related to, well, you guessed it! Bugs! To level up the Skill, capturing any bug with a Smoke Bomb will progress you in the skill!

Auni has to be directly spoken to, to use his Guild shop, compared to other stores that are available through interacting with their Cash Register. This does mean, however, there will be times when Auni is asleep and you cannot access him! Make sure to keep an eye on the time so you don’t miss him. Typically, Hodari can be found during the day wandering Kilima Village, but can also be at Leafhopper Hills.

Upgrading the Belt & Smoke Bombs

In Palia, you can upgrade your tools, such as the “Belt”. It is a very straight forward process. It is a simple case of catching more bugs to gain XP. Then, once you get enough XP, you will gain levels in the Bug Catching skill. Once you have acquired levels in the skill, you can go to Auni’s shop and get the recipe to craft the next upgrade.

For each upgrade, upgrading the belt requires the following:

  • Makeshift Belt – Given for free at the start of the game
  • Standard Belt – Requires Level 3 Bug Catching
  • Fine Belt – Requires Level 6 Bug Catching
  • Exquisite Belt – Requires Level 9 Bug Catching

Each Upgrade of the Belt improves the duration of the Daze it deals. Each of the Belts & Smoke Bombs in Palia needs to be crafted, usually requiring the previous Tier Belt and other materials such as Leather and Copper and higher tiers of those materials.

How to repair the Belt & Smoke Bombs in Palia

You may have noticed after your first Belt Upgrade that suddenly, there is a circle meter around the Belt icon. This is because all Upgraded Belts have a durability limit! Frequent use of these tools can lead to them breaking. However, we can repair the Belt using a couple of methods!

Using the Anvil in Kilima Village

The two main options you have to repair your Belt are the use of Gold or the Repair Kits you crafted. Once you have either of those options available to you, head to the Blacksmith in Kilima Village. Inside the Blacksmithing building is an Anvil at the centre. Interact with the Anvil, you will be met with the option to pay with Gold or Repair Kits!
