Back to Vectera Quest is part of Starfield’s main story. After completing quests such as The Old Neighborhood alongside The Empty Nest and Into the Unknown, you can access this quest.
It begins after finishing up your mission with Sarah to track down an Artifact piece. She will recommend you to return to Vectera to check on Barrett.

Once you return to Vectera and land at the Argos Extractors Mining Outpost on the moon, Lin will be waiting for you at the ramp. You can inquire about Barret’s whereabouts from Lin. She will inform you that more Pirates arrived and launched a stronger attack after you left, resulting in Heller being taken prisoner during the commotion when Barret attempted to speak while holding a Pirate captive.

Your current task is to locate Heller and Barrett. Lin let you know that she tried to track them but the communication system was down. To repair it you need to gather three Emergency Power Cells. However, obtaining these cells may take some time. Therefore, we will assist you by providing information about the locations of the Emergency Power Cells in Starfield.

Emergency Power Cell Locations in Starfield

The Emergency Power Cells spawn randomly in different areas. Be sure to check every nook and cranny of the map! Here are some frequent Emergency Power Cell Locations in Starfield:

• In the communications building, on the shelf to the left of the next doorway.

• In the communications building, head towards the metal folding door on your right across from the power cell on the shelf. It is under the television.

• In the other building, on a cart.

• On the table next to the robot.

• Near the landing point. Beside some crates and barrels.

• Lin holds some Emergency Power Cells. She will give it to you if you talk to her.

• You can loot the nearby powered-down robot.

• You can loot the MedBench in the Infirmary.

Other Emergency Power Cell Locations in Starfield:

• In the break room.
• In the storage room.
• In the office building.
• Outside the control room.
• In the storage area behind the infirmary.

Great Job! After collecting three Emergency Power Cells in Starfield, return to the room with the power receivers and insert the power cells to power the computer. You can now lockpick the door into the comms room to enter and listen to the audio transmission Barrett left behind in the computer. After listening to the Emergency Transmission, go back outside and inform Lin about what happened. After this, you can speak with her again and recruit her as a crew member. You can now head to the newly marked planet Altair II in the Altair system, and land at the marked location ‘Crashed Ship’ to continue your mission and rescue Barrett.
