Enshrouded: How to get Steel Bars

Discover How to get Steel Bars

The latest update for Enshrouded unveiled new exciting content: this includes the massive Albaneve Summit area, powerful bosses, and resources such as steel used in armor crafting.

Though, before, steel has been scarce and can only be obtained through exploration, but now, steel has been increased in significance to an extent where players cannot help but always spend it to acquire late game armors and progress through the game.

The Albaneve Summit Region

The Albaneve Summit is dangerous and cold area. Players/Flameborns cannot access the whole region without possessing Flame Level 6 and Frost Resistance. Without it, Players/Flameborns can only explore the bottom of the mountains, but never its peak and Enshrouded Areas.

Quest from the Blacksmith

The quest given by the Blacksmith (will only be given after completing his previous latest-quest) holds the way to get steel; he will pinpoint a location on your map where an object called Bellows is located, a tool needed to craft the Blast furnace, a furnace that can only smelt Steel in the Game.

The location is called “Forge of Obsidia”, northeast of the Ancient Spire – Albaneve Summits.

To get there, you will need at least +4 Frost Resistance (which is about 6 minutes in the cold), the earliest possible Frost Resistance you can obtain is by eating Food cooked by interacting with the Farmer, or crafting Pocket Heater from the Hunter.

You’ll have to enter the forgery building in the Forge of Obsidia, then get close enough to the hot area (the room with furnaces and lava) to reset the cold-time countdown and prevent you from getting insta-killed by Hypothermia.

Fighting the Boss

The boss in the area called “Scavenger Tyrant” holds the Bellow that you are looking for. Players/Flameborns can easily kill it by luring it to the Lava.

After killing it, loot the Bellow from its body.

Gathering Iron and Coal

Do not go back to your base yet, exploring further into the forge, you will encounter a small mine with iron and coal. Go back to the area where the boss initially stays in, then look for a hole behind the furnaces.

Go straight, you will encounter one enemy guarding the small mine, kill it then you’re now free to gather the resources.

Iron can also be easily mined in the Ridgeback Mine, southeast of Ancient Spire – Kindlewastes.

It’s worth noting that the coal is a different product from charcoal. Coal is mined/obtained in the Albaneve Summit while charcoal is made in the Charcoal Kiln. Therefore, obtaining materials adds yet another layer of complexity to their gathering.

Crafting the Blast Furnace

Creating the Blast Furnace requires these materials:

  • 30 Sand
  • 20 Fired Bricks
  • 1 Bellows
  • 10 Lump of Clay
  • 10 Iron Bars

Smelting Steel Bars

Once the Blast Furnace is crafted, place it at your base. To create steel, you’ll need:

  • 20 Iron Ore
  • 50 Coal

This produces 20 steel bars, converting your resources into powerful crafting materials.

Impact of Steel Bars on Player Progression

Steel is the key for the creation of some of the sturdiest armor (majority of these armor contains Frost Resistance) and shield in the game. Whether taking down bosses or trudging through harsh conditions, securing steel has now become a central part of Enshrouded’s progression. Acquiring steel helps players progress by making battles more manageable with resilient gear.
