Time Trial Mechanics and Tips

All the basic mechanics of this fight are explained in a lot of detail in Taedal’s Tower Floor 12 – Answers in the Sand, please refer to that guide to familiarize yourself with how general mechanics work and which attacks you are required to block/dodge.

Additionally, the following tips should help you better optimize your damage and survivability:

Save your burst damage for after the first burrow

Once you have done some damage to the Scorpion boss, it will borrow and you will need to lure a small scorpion into the correct burrow hole. Use your short cooldowns to deal some damage at the start, but save your long damage cooldowns for when the Scorpion boss pops out of the ground and gets stunned by destroying the small scorpion. This is a good time to deal some uninterrupted damage!

Lure all 3 small scorpions into the correct sand vortex

After the first time Scorpion boss has burrowed and popped out, small scorpions will start spawning one by one. Once all 3 scorpions have spawned and the Scorpion boss has started another burrow phase, make sure to lure all 3 small scorpions into the correct vortex. This way when Scorpion boss pops out, it will be stunned for a while and will take a lot of damage. Save your burst for this moment and you might be able to kill the boss in one skill rotation!

Use the strongest buffs if you need more damage

If you have mastered the basic mechanics and are not losing any damage due to missing block prompts and getting stunned, your next best bet is to buff your damage. Use the best available Stellarite, Rare Attack Remedy and Boss Damage food (Rare Quarba Sandwich). Make sure to pop your guardian and save this burst damage for when the boss is stunned as explained in point 2.
