Overview

Skills

Rotation

The main rotation and usage of spells for this build are fairly straightforward. This is because we primarily use our Staff spells to deal damage from range, leaving our Dagger mostly unused unless escaping or gap-closing a kill. The Dagger in the build is mainly used as an off-hand that boosts the damage of our Staff spells while protecting us with Camouflage and high evasion.

First, the priority targets to be aware of as a Staff user are squishy opposing Staff or Bow players and Tanks. Staff (and even the Wand) are both very effective weapons against Tanks due to the constant DoT pressure you apply.

You should only really use the Dagger engage when your team is hard running through an opposing zerg or you’re picking off a kill on the side that is safe to Shadow Strike to.

The main Staff DPS rotation is the following:

  1. Serial Fire Bomb x3
  2. Ambush Stance (roll)
  3. Inferno Wave
  4. Ambush Stance (roll)
  5. Chain Lightning
  6. Judgment Lightning

You can use spells such as Infernal Meteor, Ice Spear and AoE versions of Chain Lightning + Judgment Lightning pretty freely when the situation decides it. However a general ranged AoE rotation is the following:

  1. Serial Fire Bombs x3
  2. Ambush Stance
  3. Inferno Wave
  4. Infernal Meteor
  5. Ice Spear
  6. Ambush Stance
  7. Chain Lightning
  8. Judgment Lightning
It is worth noting to always activate your Poison before any rotation. If you are weaving the Dagger into any rotation, a simple Shadow Strike into Brutal Incision is enough before backing out with Frost Smokescreen or Camouflage. The key mechanic with the Dagger when using Lequirus’s Thorny Edge is to weave Dodge Rolls every 3-5 seconds between your spells (Ambush Stance). This is because using Dagger Mobility skills increases your Base Damage due to the Perk from Lequirus’s Thorny Edge. High Locus is another spell that can be popped at the precise moment you intend to use long cooldown spells to make the most of the cooldown reduction.

Perception

Both Dexterity and Wisdom play a huge role in the amount of damage you can output. As a DPS player, both Strength and Perception are not a real priority due to the lack of Maximum Damage they give you. Also, another factor is that Perception is largely focused on landing Crowd Control or “Normal” attacks.

This means that because we’re stacking heavily into Dexterity, we can forget about Perception entirely as we’ll eventually reach over 1000 Critical Hit. However, it is important to note that Wisdom is overall more desire-able than Dexterity, even though we need both. Reaching at least 50 of each is ideal.

For a set bonus, we recommend trying to pick up the Reaper’s 2-set bonus – 21% Critical Damage. This bonus is a huge baseline damage increase for a build that mostly crits.

We also recommend stacking as much +Range % as possible. For example, the Reaper’s Hand of Death gloves (alternatively, Blessing of Mother Nature Cloth Gloves), Insightful Ring of Dimension and most importantly – your first Epic Staff to obtain.

For Epic Weapons, we highly recommend finding the following:

Staff: Toublek’s Thunderous Soul (Found in the Paola’s Dimension Chest via Secret Dungeons)

Dagger: Lequirus’s Thorny Edge (Found in the Paola’s Dimension Chest via Secret Dungeons)

Toublek’s Thunderous Soul provides a HUGE range increase, a fantastic scaling Critical Hit Chance passive and importantly, a lot of Dexterity. Lequirus’s Thorny Edge as previously mentioned, not only provides great stats but also a fantastic Base Damage increase passive, activated by using Dagger Mobility skills.

Each passive above is the highest priority to level, any other passive that is not Epic Rarity to begin with that is not on this list, can be upgraded at your leisure. We also recommend to swap between Asceticism and Echoic Barrier depending on the situation you’re facing.
