Complete Guide to How Ziplines Work in Grounded Including the Zipline Ascender

Exploring the backyard in Grounded is extremely fun but after some time running from one side to the other can be tiresome. Ziplines are helpful for players to get around the map efficiently.

In this guide you are going to find out everything you need to know about Ziplines, including how to go UP them with the latest Holiday update. If you haven’t checked out our guide on Transporting materials on Ziplines, you can take a look here!

How to get the Zipline Recipe

Grounded ASL

To unlock the Zipline Anchor and the Zipline Wall Anchor recipes you will need to visit an ASL Terminal. You will find these at any field station or with BURG.L in the Great Oak Lab. You will need 2500 raw science to unlock the the Zipline Anchor and Zipline Wall Anchor recipes.

Making the Ziplines

As you can see from the recipes you now have two types of Zipline Anchors you can place. The Zipline Anchors are you main anchor which you would want to be at the highest point. Where as the Zipline Wall Anchor can only be attached to a wall and used as an end point.

We recommend starting with the Zipline Anchor which requires 4 chunks of clay, 6 weed stems and 1 strand of silk rope. You are going to need more Silk Rope but that depends on the distance of the zipline from one end to the other. Once you have your anchors in place the build will show you how much Silk Rope you will need. If you are looking to zoom from the Oak Tree to the Hedge you’re looking at around 40/50 Silk Rope. A great place to farm spiders webs for the Silk Rope is in the hedge or near the oak tree.

How to use Ziplines

Actually using Ziplines is really straight forward, just walk up to the edge of the zipline and hit the β€œuse” key. On Xbox it should be β€˜X’ and on the PC it should be β€˜E’ as defaults. We do have a few tips though from unfortunately experiences, haha!
Be careful when jumping on to the Zipline, its quite easy to miss if you are jumping on. Be sure to have a dandelion tuft with you just in case you somehow fall off, unless you are falling over water of course, then you can just dive right in!

A great place to build a platform is around the Oak Tree, you can build quite high and if you build around it you have a great view of the entire backyard.

Travel up your Ziplines with the Zipline Ascender

In the latest Holiday update you can now go back up the Zipline with the help of a special invention and an Aphid.

Zipline Ascender

To get this special Grounded invention you will need to defeat the Assistant Manager to obtain his key card. Once you have the Assistant Manager key card head back to the Oak Tree Lab where you first met BURG.L. Obsidian have added a new room next to the ASL Terminal. Enter the room and you will find the Zipline Ascender! The item will then sit on your character and allow you to interact with Ziplines and go up them!
