Grounded Crossplay

Grounded Crossplay

Is Grounded Crossplay The short and simple answer is YES! Obsidian Entertainment have made Grounded a cross-platform for Xbox, PC and STEAM users. So if you have the game on Steam and one friend has it on the Xbox. Even if one friend is using the Xbox game pass via the PC. You can all play together! Just make sure everyone has an Xbox Live account set up, as you will need this to join or invite each other to the game.

Obsidian Entertainment and Microsoft have been incredible and made Grounded a 4 player co-op game. I would strongly advise getting a group of friends together before jumping into the backyard. It makes your time a lot easier from farming resources or teaming up and fighting enemies. You will not be disappointed from fighting a Weavil to a huge Black Widow with your friends.

Difference between a multiplayer Standard world and a Shared world

Standard World is attached to your personal Xbox Live account and managed by the yourself (host), which means the host is in control of the use of auto-saves and any manual saves while playing. This also means if the host quits the game, the session will end for everyone else. If you have Grounded on Steam you will need to have a Xbox Live account to use this feature.

Standard World is attached to your personal Xbox Live account and managed by the yourself (host), which means the host is in control of the use of auto-saves and any manual saves while playing.

Shared World‘s are stored online. This means you can give access to your friends, so they are able to play and host the session themselves. However, this save turns into a shared state, which means you can not back up the file and if you or your friends mess up, you can not go back to an older save state.

Shared World is a save that is stored online. This means you can grant host access to your friends, so they are able to play and host the session even if you're not around.

How to Connect to a Multiplayer Game?

The process to join a Grounded multiplayer game is that you just need to select Multiplayer then Join Online Game from the main menu. You’ll then be presented with a list of available sessions to join, along with which players are currently in them. Select the one you want to connect with, enter the password if one has been set, then you’ll shortly pop up in your friend’s world.

If you are unable to see the session, Your friend will have to manually invite you. We have noticed sometimes if your friend is on the Steam version and you are on the Xbox version. You will have to go into the xbox friend list and invite them from there and it will come up in game. This allows the friend to join the session.

Another alternative option you can try if the last process does not work with the PC user. Is that you use and download the Xbox companion app. From there you can connect with your friends too, due to it not being directly connected to the Xbox Live Network.
